SONE and its employees have raised £1,134 from fund-raising activities at their recent staff party.
The first donation of £750 was made to Anxious Minds, a charity based in Wallsend. Anxious Minds was established by Eddie Dean, an ex-veteran suffering from anxiety and depression who discovered that waiting lists were too long and support was not readily available to people in the North East. Mr Dean has told us that the donation will go towards counselling services for children who have had a difficult start in life.
The second donation has been made to Willow Burn Hospice. This is for £384.10 which will cover the cost of a nurse for 24 hours. Willow Burn, based in Lanchester, has been providing patients and their families with palliative and end of life care since 1989.
SONE’s CEO, Raymond Oliver, said; In line with our donations policy, SONE colleagues were asked to suggest the charities they’d most like to donate to and we’re delighted to offer support to these organisations, which both do such excellent work.’
