The background
From 1 June 2025, it will be illegal for businesses to sell, offer to sell or have in their possession for sale all single-use or ‘disposable’ vapes. Businesses have until this date to sell any remaining stock they hold and prepare for the ban coming into force.
Why the ban?
The government says that making the sale of single-use vapes illegal will help to curb the rise of young people taking up vaping, while ‘protecting our natural environment and town streets from a tide of litter’.
What the ban will mean
The most likely outcome from the ban is that single-use disposable vapers will move to refillable devices. This will result in a significant increase in the demand for these products and of 10ml e-liquid bottles to refill them.
Why will there be a move to 10ml bottles?
For consumers: 10ml nic-salts are the only e-liquid alternative that will taste like and give the same nicotine hit as a single-use disposable, while offering a cost-effective option.
For manufacturers: 10ml nic-salts provide a commercially viable option that is compliant with UK law.
