Industrial design graduate, Rowan Nowell, has landed his ideal job after completing a Design for Industry degree at Northumbria University earlier this year.

Industrial design graduate, Rowan Nowell, has landed his ideal job after completing a Design for Industry degree at Northumbria University earlier this year.

Rowan, who is originally from North Yorkshire, has joined the in-house design team at SONE Products Ltd (SONE), a supplier of innovative plastic solutions to markets such as cosmetics, cosmeceuticals, personal care, healthcare and diagnostics.

Taking up his new role as industrial designer, Rowan will build on experience gained from previous placements, working alongside the company’s development manager, Ian Jobling and the design team to develop products for new markets and refine the design of existing products in line with client needs.

This latest appointment is part of SONE’s ongoing strategy to build its design and development function and enhance its capability to offer a full service, from idea generation through to manufacture and delivery.

Speaking about Rowan’s arrival, Ian Jobling commented:

“We are very pleased to welcome Rowan to the team. As a newly qualified designer he brings with him complementary skills in the area of functional design that will be really beneficial to our complete solutions offering.”

Talking about his first role in industry, Rowan said:

“This is a great opportunity for me to work with an experienced team of designers. I very much look forward to using my design skills in an environment where I can see a product I’ve worked on go right through to manufacture.”

SONE currently employs 125 and continues to invest in training, playing its part in skilling the region’s next generation of manufacturers.
