As it continues to target new markets, one of the region’s leading plastics manufacturers has announced it has secured a significant contract in the oral healthcare sector.
Stanley-based SONE Products Ltd (SONE), the UK’s only high volume supplier to specialise in both the design and manufacture of a range of plastic containers incorporating innovative application and dispensing solutions, has been appointed by Curaden International AG (Curaden), a global supplier of dental products, to manufacturer two styles of coloured plastic tooth picks plus clear and white boxes.
This latest order has been secured shortly after the manufacturer announced a major investment programme at its north east plant commencing with the acquisition of new injection blow moulding equipment, facilitating a move into the manufacture of a range of new products.
With a value in excess of £200,000 annually, SONE will be required to manufacture over 66 million toothpicks along with plastic containers for retail across Scandinavia.
Speaking about selecting SONE to produce these products, Curaden’s international sales director, Richard Thomas said:
“We decided to work with SONE for a number of reasons, namely because of the improved cost effective and more beneficial production and delivery solutions they were able to offer. We have also found the team to be extremely professional at all levels, providing us with a seamless transition process to bring the manufacturing to the UK.”
Delighted at winning this new contract adding his thoughts, SONE’s, business development manager Tony Burnell, said:
“Working on behalf of Curaden gives us a great opportunity to demonstrate the full extent of our high service level as well as our growing range of capabilities and competitiveness. We are confident of building a strong and lasting relationship with this client and many others in the dental and oral hygiene sectors.”
Other examples of the type of products manufactured by SONE are mascaras, eyeliners and lip-gloss packs for the cosmetics industry. Each unit is produced using both plastic injection and extrusion blow moulding processes and in the near future injection blow moulding processes.
SONE design, develops, manufactures, decorates and brands the components and completes the process by assembling the applicators ready for distribution to a global market.
