An order to produce a new product line totalling an estimated 800,000 parts per month has provided a welcome addition to the portfolio manufactured at north east-based SONE Products.
The order will be worth around £850,000 per annum to SONE and has necessitated the introduction of additional shifts in the factory to cope with the increased workload.
Raymond Oliver, SONE’s Chairman and CEO, welcomes the new business which comes from a leading supplier to the cosmetics industry. He says: “We will be manufacturing and assembling parts for a mascara product. A moulded cap will be produced using our injection moulding process and this will be fitted with a threadpart and brush on one of our fully automatic assembly machines. The unit will then be despatched for final assembly with the filled bottle.”
SONE has worked closely with a member of the customer’s technical team who visited the plant to reconfigure the automatic assembly machine which is now dedicated to production of this new product line and to provide associated training for SONE staff.
