As part of its ongoing strategy to enhance its bespoke in-house design capabilities and further develop its range of services, SONE has taken delivery of a new 3D printer.
The arrival of the Makerbot Replicator 2x supports SONE’s growing reputation for providing innovative application solutions for its customers in the beauty and healthcare sectors, while implementing time and cost efficiencies in terms of design and prototyping.
The introduction of the 3D technology will ensure that SONE has greater control when developing products from the conceptual drawing board stage, or when refining existing products prior to the expensive tool cutting phase.
Speaking about this latest investment, project engineer, Duncan Wormald said:
“Investment in our own 3D printer allows us to further extend our full service capabilities and more closely manage design features on products for existing and new customers. We see this as another step towards bringing the design process closer to the customer.
“The capability and accuracy of 3D printing permits us to make prototypes which can be fully tested before incurring tool cutting costs ahead of physical production. Having this sort of control is of great benefit to both SONE and its customers, as it minimises the risk whilst speeding up the design to manufacturing process, both of which bring significant added value.”
Since appearing at this year’s Packaging Innovation show, SONE has seen an increase in enquiries for its services and this latest investment will ensure that the manufacturer is able to respond quickly to the needs of its growing client base.
