With all things vintage and retro very much in vogue at the moment, it was no surprise that the gregarious and generous staff at SONE Products entered into the spirit of their annual Olympics event, which had a 50s/Grease theme, with their usual gusto.
This year the physical challenges were of the inflatable kind, consisting of giant jousting, sumo wrestling, a ‘gruelling’ assault course and the bungee equaliser.
Thereafter followed the eagerly anticipated quiz where the Yellow Cadillacs, the Doris Days, the James Deans and the Rydell Reds pitted their wits against one another to see who would walk away with the sought after Angela Davison Memorial Cup. When all was said and done it was the Rydell Reds who won, retaining the trophy for a second year.
The event, which is now in its third year, is so well regarded that Elvis himself made an appearance, entertaining everyone with some of his biggest selling hits from the 50s. The ‘Best Dressed’ accolade went to Francesca Tone, who was presented with Metro Centre vouchers.
Apart from providing staff with a chance to get together socially, there is also a philanthropic side to the event. £1,355 was raised from the sale of raffle tickets and is to be donated to the Willow Burn Hospice to help them continue the much needed service they provide within the local community.
